How much a Bombardier Global 5000 costs: price and upkeep
Asking prices for the Global 5000 on the open marketplaces run from $10.5 to $20.8 million, to my information, with the median holding around $11.0–11.3 million. Aircraft from 2007–2009 sit on the lower edge of the corridor; later examples more often go without a published price. Here is what stands behind that spread, which findings at inspection take a million off, and what a year of owning an ultra-long-range aircraft is made of.

The figures are market reference points from the open marketplaces as at August 2026, to my information. The value of a particular aircraft is calculated from its documents, its hours and its specification.

Production ended in 2021, so there are no new aircraft from the factory. The practical ceiling today is around $20.8 million, to my information.
Why the spread within one type reaches a factor of two
The year of build splits the type in half. Aircraft up to 2012 carry Honeywell Primus 2000XP avionics. From 2012 the Global 5000 Vision was delivered with the Bombardier Vision flight deck built on Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion. These are two different aircraft by flight deck, by the cost of bringing them up to date and by liquidity on resale.
Early and late aircraft do not fly the same distance. Before April 2008 range stood at 4,800 nautical miles. After maximum take-off weight went up to 92,500 lb (42,000 kg) it grew to 5,200 nautical miles, that is 9,630 km. A 2006 aircraft and a 2010 aircraft differ by roughly 740 km at the limit, and a route network shows it.
Engines. The two Rolls-Royce BR710A2-20s are the most expensive assembly on the aircraft. The market prices the status of the Rolls-Royce CorporateCare programme directly: on the Global 5000 an aircraft outside the programme gives up $1–1.5 million, to my information. Active cover transfers to the new owner and counts as an asset in the deal; buying in retroactively costs more than continuous enrolment.
The 120-month inspection. Heavy airframe checks on the Global Express family run $1.5–2.5 million, and on the Global 6000 an outstanding check takes $0.8–1.5 million off the price, to my information. One 2014 aircraft was listed at $18.5 million with a caveat: the price holds provided the 120-month inspection is carried out, to my information. The order of magnitude on the Global 5000 is the same.
Communications and surveillance. Aircraft built before 2012 need updating to current requirements: an ADS-B Out and FANS 1/A package on the Global Express family costs $0.7–1.2 million, to my information. Ka-band satellite communications are usually absent on aircraft built before 2015, and fitting Ka-band or Starlink to a Global 5000 runs $0.5–1 million, to my information.
How much the aircraft has flown. Ask for hours and landings as two separate lines. Three thousand hours against a thousand landings means three-hour legs; the same three thousand against four and a half thousand landings means short sectors, where the fuselage was pressurised four times as often. Some components are lifed by cycles, and that second figure moves the budget of the first years more than the first does. Listings rarely publish utilisation: of three aircraft with an open price, only one states it — 4,988 hours on a 2007 example.
The cabin. Interior work on an ultra-long-range aircraft costs as much as a decent light jet, and machines with a fresh cabin and with a 2008 interior stand apart by that amount.

Asking prices are to my information, as at August 2026; a published price stays the seller's hypothesis until the documents are checked.
The remaining listings carry no public price. By marketplace the count runs: Controller seven to eight aircraft, GlobalAir and GlobalPlaneSearch nine each, AircraftExchange five. The samples overlap, so there are fewer aircraft for sale than those numbers add up to.
Eight or nine listings against a fleet of 224 aircraft by 2018 is a narrow market. A shortlist takes longer to assemble than on the G550, and the specification you want with an active programme is a matter of months of waiting.
What a year of ownership is made of
Fixed costs run whether the aircraft flies or sits: two type-rated pilots and a flight attendant, hangarage, insurance, calendar checks, continuing airworthiness management, contributions to the engine and APU programmes, subscriptions for navigation databases and communications, administration.
Variable costs are counted from hours: fuel, airport and navigation charges, ground handling, catering, crew expenses, reserves against component life.
There is no ready annual budget for the ultra-long-range class in my sources. The reference point is a published calculation for the super-midsize Praetor 600: about $948,470 a year fixed plus about $4,029 per flight hour, to my information. The Global 5000 sits above it on every line — crew, a hangar sized for the aircraft, insurance driven by hull value, engine programme contributions. The total is calculated for the particular aircraft, its base and its planned hours.
One-off work is carried in the budget as separate reserves, to my information.

These land as single events and enter the budget in instalments: the engine programme as an hourly contribution, the heavy check as an accrual against the due date.
Three things move the annual total more than anything else.
How much the aircraft flew that year. At a hundred hours a year the fixed part lands on each hour as a hundredth; at four hundred, as a four-hundredth. Same aircraft, and the full cost per hour differs fourfold.
Maximum take-off weight. Airport charges are calculated from it. On the Global 5000 that is 42,000 kg against roughly 45,130 kg on the Global 6000 — three tonnes of difference, which adds up over a year at expensive European hubs. This is the one line where the shortened aircraft is systematically cheaper than its larger sibling.
The base. Parking and charges differ by multiples, and hangarage on the ultra-long-range class has to fit the aircraft.
I run deals on aircraft in the Bombardier Global family, and demand in the long-range class is holding. The reference point I use in a first conversation with a buyer: annual utilisation of a business jet falls in the 300–400 hour band, and upkeep costs 10–20 per cent of the aircraft's value per year. At the $10.5 million entry price of a Global 5000 that is one to two million a year before the first heavy check. The figure is rough, and it shows straight away whether this is the right conversation.
When an aircraft of your own is justified
The Global 5000 pays for itself on regular 8–10 hour legs with a group on board, from 300 hours in the air a year, and on a route network where the full 9,630 km is used several times a year.
At a hundred hours a year and legs within four hours, an aircraft of this class carries air: the fixed part of the cost stays where it is and the airframe's capability goes unused. What to do, in order
Set your budget inside the $10.5–20.8 million range and decide straight away whether you need the Bombardier Vision flight deck. The answer cuts the market in half.
Ask every candidate for hours and landings as two separate figures. One line in a listing hides half the picture.
Confirm the CorporateCare status of each engine and the date of the next 120-month inspection.
Check the communications and surveillance fit: ADS-B Out, FANS 1/A, satellite communications. Convert whatever is missing into money and take it off the price.
